I was just able to download it from this deviantart page here, but didn't install it. Remember that GAP is like a billion years old now in internet years; it wouldn't surprise me that it's just stopped working on all the same systems that gimp itself works on. Gimp-gap in GIMP 2.8

Hi developing people.

First of all, congratulations for the excelent work in gimp 2.8. Thesoftware is amazing. Better than never.Now for the business. I'm working in an animation/comics, called TheDetail Library project, since 2007 and we use Gimp with GAP toeverything. So I was wondering:
When we can get the GIMP-GAP for 2.8, if exist someone working on it,and even if (in the case of be an abandoned project) if exist some wayto obtain the same resources in gimp. Can someone please help (withinformation, since we can still use gimp 2.6 for a while)

The most used features in our project are:

The 'Next/Previous image', it makes fast the edition of multipleimages, is better tha the tabs in sligle windowed mode.The Playback feature (crucial to animation). For pencil test is moreprecise than the actual 'playback in the filter menusThe 'Modifier Layers' I belive the 'BIMP' (Batch Image Manipulator)can replace it.
The 'Covert', according to the new export/save behavior must beadapted to a 'export multiple files'

So we are looking for this resources in gimp 2.8, any info about willbvery helpful

what specifically is not working in GIMP-GAP iin GIMP 2.8?

Since a grea deal of exfort is put in GIMP in order not to break plug-in API's,regular GIMP-GAP shoud just work on GIMP 2.8, and if not, it culd bereported as a bug on GIMP itself.

However, you might find it easier to get a pre-compiled version ofGIMP-GAP for your platform - GIMP-GAP,a s GIMP itself is developed andpresented in source code only - whoever packaged GIMP-GAP for yourGIMP 2.6 should make a release with binaries for GIMP 2.8 as well - oryou might simply build GIMP-GAP yourself from teh tarball. Actually, Ithink even the same binaries could work - have you simply triedcopying the files from the plug-ins directory of gimp-2.6 to gimp 2.8?

Sorry to come back to this again, but now i've got a problem! Not everything is working fine with gimp-gap. i belive that i have found one bug. In the 'frames modify' i can't access the 'function' options. The only avaiable is the 'Set Layer Visible'.

I'm using GIMP 2.8 from the ppa:otto-kesselgulash (ubuntu 12.04)

Gimp-gap in GIMP 2.8

Just for the record (or, how I've solve the problem), I've found a very nice solution to use GIMP in the 'multiple window' mode inside the UNITY (ubuntu 12.04) enviroment. Is just run the GIMP with the command:

in terminal:

UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= gimp (That will place the menus in the windows instead of the top bar)

OR APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1 gimp
(that will place the menus both in the top bar and in the windows)

via ALT+F2:

env UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= gimp

env APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1 gimp

Or make a 'gimp.desktop' file with an text editor and place in the launcher:

[Desktop Entry] Version=2.6.12
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Exec= env APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1 gimp Name=Gimp
GenericName=Gimp Painter
Icon=/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/gimp.svg
